How Exercise Benefits Female Intimacy

How Can Exercise benefit female intimacy?

Exercise is the foundational component of health and wellness. It will improve your mood, increase your metabolism, boost your energy, and help you sleep. But, most importantly, exercise can also do wonders for your intimacy and sex life! Here’s how.

Women’s libidos are multifaceted and fairly complex. Exercise produces major benefits (psychological, emotional, and physiological) which can translate into a revved up libido! By now you may be asking yourself, so how exactly will exercise improve my sex drive? Your sex organs (e.g., genitals) need good blood flow to work properly, so a regular fitness routine can help women become aroused more quickly. This will make post-exercise a time of increased physiological sexual arousal in women. It raises and sustains levels of an enzyme in women that increases genital blood flow and arousal. Research has continued to suggest that women who have exercised are more likely to be turned on than those who have been sedentary.  According to research, just 20 minutes of exercise could boost sexual arousal by 169%.

The most important sex organ is the brain.

The most important sex organ is the brain. Exercise impacts how you think about our body (e.g., body image), and will leave you feeling more confident and sexy. You know that feeling when you catch a glimpse of yourself in the gym mirror after a rigorous workout and think, “I look pretty amazing” or “I am so proud of myself!” See, we bring those positive thoughts and feelings of confidence with us into the bedroom. Regular exercise helps improve self-esteem and body-acceptance. You are likely to feel more comfortable observing and appreciating your body because being active leads to a more affirmative relationship with your body. Working out regularly also increases self-efficacy (an individual’s belief in their capacity to succeed at a specific task). Self-efficacy and confidence go hand-in-hand.

Exercise also enhances your sexual performance. Being fit and in good shape helps you perform better sexually and improves cognitive function. Exercise helps your brain work better and sharpens your mind. This helps you focus more when you’re sexually engaged and aroused and enhances creativity. Working out has the immediate advantage of boosting your sexual stamina. Regardless of the type of exercise you enjoy, it will improve your cardiovascular health and increase endurance so you can enjoy your sex drive for longer stretches of time.

Lubrication is an important element of sexual arousal.

Lubrication is an important element of sexual arousal. It readies the vagina for penetration and helps to reduce pain. Exercise will increase your lubrication by upsurging blood flow to your sexual organs and the rest of your body. It will also help with hydration, leading to greater likelihood for orgasm. Yoga and Pilates poses can improve flexibility and increase blood flow to the pelvic area, naturally promoting sexual vitality and better arousal levels. Likewise, Kegel exercises have also become renowned for their ability to stimulate blood circulation to the vagina, keeping tissues healthy and encouraging lubrication.

One of the he best way to slash stress (the true libido killer) is through exercise. It is no secret that short-term and chronic stress can put a damper on your sex life. Exercise naturally increases feel-good hormones to help battle stress and reduce depression, so you can relax and enjoy your intimate moments more. Physical activity is responsible for pumping up the production of endorphins, which are “feel-good” neurotransmitters that are responsible for the popular “runner’s high.” Endorphins are the chemicals in the brain that are the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators and help reduce levels of the body’s stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. Exercise can help lower your overall stress levels and improve your quality of life, both mentally and physically. Exercising regularly can have a positive effect on your mood by relieving the tension, anxiety, anger, and mild depression that often go hand-in-hand with stress. It can improve the quality of your sleep, which can be negatively impacted by stress, depression, and anxiety. These changes have a direct effect on your brain.

Physical activity can also help take your mind off your worries.

Physical activity can also help take your mind off your worries. The repetitive motions involved in exercise promote a focus on your body, rather than your mind. By concentrating on the rhythm of your movements, you experience many of the same benefits of mindfulness while working out. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present and focused on being intensely aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Focusing on a single physical task can produce a sense of energy and optimism. This focus can help provide calmness and clarity.

A great tip for exercise accountability is to workout with partner. This is a surefire way to immediately deepen connection and intimacy. Sharing time with your partner is essential, especially when the time is spent doing something that make of you both feel good! Working out with your partner is a way to spend quality time together while simultaneously growing your intimacy.
